Lyd Havens is a queer poet, performer, and Scorpio Moon currently living in Boise, Idaho by way of Tucson, Arizona. A Pushcart and Best of the Net nominee, their work has previously been published or is forthcoming in Winter Tangerine, Glass: A Journal of Poetry, Cosmonauts Avenue, and Tinderbox Poetry Journal, among others. Videos of their poetry performances have been published on YouTube channels such as Button Poetry, Slamfind, Write About Now, and Poetry Slam Inc. They are the author of the collection Survive Like the Water (Rising Phoenix Press, 2017), and their chapbook I Gave Birth to All the Ghosts Here is forthcoming from Nostrovia! Press in late 2018.
Known for their quiet-yet-captivating performances, Lyd has performed their poems at venues across the United States. In 2017, they were a member of Boise's National Poetry Slam team, which ranked 7th at group piece finals. They were also Boise's representative at the 2017 Individual World Poetry Slam, where they ranked 22nd out of 90 poets. Lyd is currently working toward a BFA in Creative Writing at Boise State University, and serves as one of the main organizers of the Boise Poetry Slam. They were born on their due date, and have been intensely punctual to everything since.
